Good news for people waiting for a mod to built-in wirelessly charge their iPhones without bulky casings. Tanv28 shows how it is possible and how you can perform the mod yourself.
Wireless power has always been an area of interest for electricity enthusiasts. Wires are messy and often get tangled up, causing you to spend a lot of time untangling them. In terms of laptops and smartphones, another problem is the charger plug. Plugging the charger into the socket of your phone and then plugging it out many times often ends up damaging the socket and causing you to take the device for repairs.
While there have been advances done by researchers in the arena of wireless device powering and charging, recently an iPhone hacker with the pseudonym Tanv28 has come up with a mod to enable his iPhone for wireless charging!
The brilliant hacker depends on a precreated wireless charging kit which is opened up and the soldered to make the appropriate changes for it to be compatible with the iPhone. You will need to open up the iPhone as well and make changes to its back circuit which hobbyists will thoroughly enjoy. The instructional video from the hacker covers all aspects of the mod and also mentions how the back cover will need to be modified in order to support the additional component of the mod.
Obviously the mod will void your phone’s warranty – another thing that the tutorial video mentions. Regardless of that fact however, enthusiasts will love to get their hands on iPhone wireless charging; just imagine never having to hook your phone up with any charging wire to recharge it!
Check out the instructional video the hacker made. In the video you will find the appropriate descriptions about which wires and pin to solder and other relevant information.
In short yep iPhone wireless charging without external extension is possible but the mod is risky to perform at the same time.
