Modern smartphones let you open a number of document file formats. JPG, PDF, DOCX, etc. are all files you can easily open and view on your phone. But what about a compressed archive that contains such files? Sometimes you are emailed ZIP archives or RAR archives and have no native way to extract their contents because your phone does not supporting unzipping them.
There are solutions you could try – phone apps that let you extract and view the contents of these archives. But they do not help at all when you have to create archives from the files stored on your phone.
For iPhone users, fortunately, there is an app that offers both features: extracting and creating archives. This app is called iZip.
iZip is a free to use smartphone application that lets iOS device owners extract ZIP and RAR archives or compress phone files into an archive. The app can unzip password protected archives as well. An overall support for ZIP, RAR, 7Z, and ZIPX format archives is provided.
While the app lets you effectively work with archives, its functionality does not stop there. It also helps you work with the files you extract.
The app lets you email files. Furthermore you can use third party applications to open files from within iZip. Supported documents for which iZip has built-in viewing modes include file formats DOC, Excel, PPT, TXT, RTF, JPG, GIF, PNG, and more.
Printers are also supported and you can send your files to any supported printers that are connected.
Images you extract can directly be shared on Facebook through the app.
All these features are divided between the free version of iZip and its Pro version which will cost you $2.99.
