When Windows Vista was launched, Microsoft was quickly in everybody’s black books. Everything about the OS was a disaster as far as Windows users were concerned. Ever since then, Microsoft has been successfully trying to win back support. The latest step that Microsoft has taken to redeem itself is the announcement of making Windows 8 extremely affordable… at least for a limited time.

It is announced that when Windows 8 will be launched, a promotional campaign shall be initiated by Microsoft that will make upgrading to Windows 8 extremely affordable. Current computer users of Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 will have to pay only US$40 for the upgrade. The upgrade will download the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant; this app will check if your system fulfills the upgrade requirements and then setup files will be downloaded and installed.

People who are not fans of downloading an entire OS over the internet will be able to buy a retail copy of the Windows 8 disc for only $70.

These prices will be valid during the promotional period that will last from the launch of Windows 8 till 31st January 2013.
